American artists Erin Jane Nelson and Ming Lin have recruited local artists Jordan Abel, Alex Grunenfelder, Heather Martin and David Semeniuk to transform Project Space into a free public art school from July 21, 2012 to July 25, 2012.
Exploring personal economy—particularly as it relates to art institutions and art education—the school will launch with talks by participating teachers and will close with an artist talk, exhibition of artworks produced by students and teachers and the release of Lesson Book, which will feature artists’ reflections on the project as well as step-by-step instructions for each of the classes delivered at the school.
CLASSES | JULY 21 TO JULY 25
Summer School will offer single- and multi-session classes on such topics as backstrap weaving, local flora, mushroom spore printing, indigo kites, air tasting, solar photograms, chapbooks, rainbow pasta and plastic crafts.
OPENING RECEPTION, ARTIST TALK & PUBLICATION LAUNCH | JULY 27 AT 6PM
Nelson and Lin will curate artworks produced by students and teachers during the school into an exhibition. The evening will also act as the launch of Lesson Book.
