i love :: DearGolden

18 Nov

Buying vintage ensures that your outfit is one of a kind and that your piece of clothing may have a story that comes with it. However, vintage clothing can sometimes be frustrating. Clothes may not fit like you are used to and sometimes, you have to be willing to dig through racks and racks of clothing to find “the one”. Lauren Naimolo from DearGoldenVintage on Etsy helps you solve your dilemma. By sifting through all the junk to find the golden treasures, her clear images and detailed descriptions, makes vintage shopping a breeze. Plus, with finds like these, how can you not stop and browse?

from her etsy featured seller interview: Through it all, I was (and still am) enamored with vintage clothing. I tend to wear mostly vintage and thrifted clothing. I mix up the eras and never really settle on one style or decade I like best. But all said, I get pretty misty at the sight of a late 1930s dress, that’s for sure. Read more

wedding :: xoelle bow ties

13 Jun

Having a bow tie crush on these beauties by Xoelle! Seriously, why should brides have all the fun!? Xoelle is run by Laura who often calls herself elle. Thus, xo elle. She handmakes each bow tie using repurposed vintage neckties and button down shirts.

In her words,“I love finding items that are unloved, forgotten, discarded, and sometimes abused, and repurposing them. I love the history and sentiment they retain.”

in the city :: markets + house guests + pubs

2 Jun

Our past week in London mainly consisted of guest visits…  a stop at the spitalfields market during the bank holiday for the vintage fair… mexican food near Angel and a coffee table score… eating baked goods in front of Harrods and having a laugh with the Big Bus driver… walking through posh neighbourhoods to the Nag’s Head and oogling at the Louboutin shoe store in Chelsea… and seeing Princess Anne’s motorcade drive through Green Park.

A second wave of guests arrived yesterday and as this was their first visit to London, they came armed with a list of top 10 London pubs to visit. I’m pretty sure the gang made it to 8 out of 10 plus a kebab house in Aldgate East, but unfortunately (or fortunately!), Robert and I went our own way after stop #2 and a quick bite at the White Horse in Parsons Green.

We are off to Llwyngwril, Wales this weekend, so stay tuned for our next field trip post!
