field trip :: little venice

11 Aug

Little Venice, situated within London’s Maida Vale district (very popular with American residents), is one of the more exclusive residential districts in central London. Opened in 1820, it was so called Little Venice when poet Robert Browning leaned out his window and exclaimed “Why, it is almost little Venice”.

We boarded a London Water Bus at Brownings Pool and took a boat ride through Regents Canal to Camden Lock where we enjoyed fish and chips at a local stall before heading home. A perfect way to spend a cloudy, but warm and sticky afternoon.
