vancouver tool library

16 Jun

The Vancouver Tool Library (VTL) is a cooperative tool lending library slated to open in mid-July. They are motivated by a vision of empowering their community with the tools and skills needed to transform their homes and communities into vibrant spaces that reflect a commitment to sustainability. By becoming a member (see here for pricing and details), people can gain access to the library’s inventory of power and hand tools and create a resource that will help reduce costs and solve that storage problem!

VTL will be equipped with a variety of tools for home repair, gardening and bicycle maintenance. Once open, they also plan on offering monthly workshops, so that members can learn tool-related skills and projects. VTL is located at 3448 Commercial Drive, Vancouver. Although they are not ready to lend tools yet, they are currently open on Wednesdays from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Saturdays from noon to 3:00 p.m. to welcome visitors, sign up new members and collect tool donations.

Visit their website here for more information or stay up to date by “liking” their facebook page here. For some extra reading, check out Kim’s article on her DiYVR column here.
